Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Today has been one of the best days of my life! It was also one I am very sentimental about, but I got some really good news as well, which of course I will share here shortly.

First, it was my last day at Belmont as I am sure you knew. Mrs. Rangel shooed me out of the room for most of the morning and had me go observe some other classrooms because she and the kids were finishing up my gift. After lunch we had our party - it was the sweetest thing ever. First, they gave me a book they'd put together, it had all their individual school pictures on different flowers and said "Miss M Helped Us Grow" and then they each wrote about something we did in the classroom this semester. Then Mrs. Rangel presented me with a bag - it was adorable! It had each of their handprints on it, with their names and a heart. Inside the bag were nineteen different gifts, each from one of the students. Mrs. R had actually gotten the gifts, but each child had chosen which one they wanted to wrap and put in the bag. it was adorable. Then we had cake and cookies and punch and it was a great afternoon. Of course there were tons of hugs too, I really am going to miss these guys, I got a little teary when I was opening their gifts. I promised I would go back and visit though, and I am making them thank-yous, because all kids love to get mail, especially addressed directly to them.

This had been a great day for another reason: I went in to pay my $300+ school bill, and found out it was already paid! I was very excited about this, more money for the bars tonight! Just kidding, but really, there was a bit of confusion because they'd taken money from one of my loans to pay this bill, but I didn't know that. I got my reimbursement, then got a bill notice after the fact, so I thought I still had a balance. Thank goodness, that's 300 more dollars I can save to move out. Whew.

Also on another happy note: I am getting Grandma tickets to a Husker basketball game for Christmas. Last year she and Grandpa came for the Texas Tech game (BOBBY KNIGHT, WOOHOO!) and I am going to again this year. Regardless of Kansas sucking ass this year, it is still a big game, so while I am still a student, I am going to buy the tickets at student prices. I better get that done now though before I forget and end up paying regular price - yuck. That's one reason I am glad N Cards don't change very often - in the spring I will still be able to get into Husker baseball games free, unless they start charging now, which would suck. I love Husker baseball....Jesse Boyer...drool....

Okay, back.

This weekend is going to be so much fun, I can't wait to see my family, even though I am going to get to see them again a few days later, but this is different, I am graduating. You don't realize how powerful that statement is until you are completely done with everything. I am graduating from college. Wow. I didn't think it was such a big deal before and Teetz and I have talked about this a lot, but yeah, graduation, wow...

Britt is dragging my ass out to the bars tonight, and by dragging I mean I am going whole-heartedly. I haven't been out on a Thursday in I don't know how long, because of getting up early for student teaching. Tonight we're going to go out and have a good time and everyone better be there - even Teetz and Kayleen might show up for five minutes after their cram session for one of their met classes. Teetz is almost a guarantee, just say the word 'alcohol' and he's there. Britt, Drake, etc...the usual suspects, will all be around, and JOHNROSS, if you read this you better show up! I should just call him now because he probably won't read this in time...

Anyway.

That is all for now, I am off to work on my thank-yous for my babies. I miss them already.

Could This Take Any Longer?

I am so excited! Well, and sad. I am sad because tomorrow is my last day at Belmont, and it is also my last day working the testing center. Then I have to go back to working at Office Depot more (gross) but it is a job. I am excited though, because there are two days left until I graduate! I can't believe the day is actually so close I can taste it, practically. Mom and the rest of the fam will be here some time Friday afternoon, so I better get my room clean that morning. The only problem with that scenario is that Britt wasn't to go out and celebrate on Thursday night...and after I 'celebrate', I usually don't feel like doing anything but sleeping.

Do you ever miss anything that is right beside you? Sometimes I do.

I had a pretty crappy morning, I went to sleep last night around 9:15 or so because I was really tired and felt sick to my stomach, and the only thing that stopped the room from spinning was laying down and closing my eyes. It was one of those feelings like your skin feels like it is on fire even if you're freezing cold. I woke up a lot, and I think part of that has to do with sleeping by myself, I just sleep better when Drake is there, I don't know why. It's very comforting. But I am sure a large part of waking up all the time is partially due to not feeling good at all - I think it was the pizza, Michelle and I both had Sbarro and neither of us felt very good at work, but it didn't really hit me until I got home. I am going to crash fairly early again tonight. Tomorrow is my last day at Belmont and I don't want to be feeling crappy again, I am going to miss these kids a lot - even the ones who get on my every last nerve. Mostly they're good kids, sometimes they just forget, and I really love this class a lot.

The End...Almost

Well, this is it.

My final week as a student of the University of Nebraska began today. I am pretty excited to graduate, even though I know I will still be in Lincoln because the lease isn't up until then. I think I still will probably stay until next December for sure, because that is when Drake is graduating, and then who knows what will happen. I will eventually go to grad school, but I have to have a couple years of classroom experience first.

My party details are mostly set, something I am also excited about. I am a little bummed Teetz won't be here; he and Britt are the bestest of my bestest buds, but sometimes his family has to come before me. I am also super excited because Kayleen was going to try to get off work or at least work a shift that didn't conflict with my party quite as much. I haven't seen her in ages, so it will be awesome.

That is about all right now, nothing too exciting, today was it for me at Office Depot for three weeks. I am also applying at Barnes and Noble - but only because B. Dalton is not hiring. B&N is evil, but it would be much more enjoyable than Office Depot. We'll see, because I will also be subbing too. I can handle three jobs, I've done it before.

PORTFOLIO, WHAT!

IT IS FINALLY DONE!!!!!! THIS MORNING AT ROUGHLY ONE A.M. I FINALLY COMPLETED MY EXIT PORTFOLIO FROM TEACHERS COLLEGE!!!

And yes, I am aware it is no longer called Teachers College, and instead now the College of Education and Human Sciences. However, when I was accepted it was still TC, so for TC it shall always be. The portfolio is roughly 200 pages and spans everything I have done in my methods courses, practicums, and now student teaching over the last two and a half years. I am kind of lost now, because I literally have nothing to do for the rest of the semester. It is strange, but I am so giddy. I know I bitched a lot about UNL, but I will miss it, I do miss not going to regular classes and spending time on campus, because it really is a beautiful one. However, I am ready to move on to the next phase of my life. I just don't know what is all involved in that phase yet. That's half the excitement right there.

My graduation party is going to be on Saturday following graduation, but I will let people know in person and not just through my blog.

I think it's pretty lame when people can't go to sleep in their own apartments on week nights. Apparently courtesy doesn't exist in some places anymore. Bummer.

I got to spend a few hours with Britt yesterday, something we have not been able to do in a long time. I have not laughed so hard in ages and I missed her a lot. We went to the Huskers basketball game against UAB, and unfortunately lost by one in the very last second, and now we are 5-1. It was a really good game though, but very weird not seeing Jake Muhleisen, John Turek, and Corey Simms, although we did see Simms walking around on the concourse so that was sweet. Then we did some errands and had an adventure at Wal-Mart, something that has also not happened for a very long time. I am excited to graduate if only for the fact that I will finally get to see my friends again! I miss them a lot, and I don't feel like myself without them.

Also, I did not get "Friends: The One With All Ten Seasons." Fearnot, however, because I did not have to actually buy it myself. This is how the convrsation with Mom went a couple nights ago.

Me: Mom, is there a remote remote possibility that I might be getting Friends, because if not I worked a lot of over time and got backpay from a couple months ago and would like to buy it.

Mom: (long pause) Damnit, Sarah. You're going to know everything you're getting for Christmas

Me: (loud squealing) Mom! Thankyou!Thankyou!Thankyou!Thankyou!Thankyou! But you didn't have to tell me, I just asked about a remote possiblity.

Mom: (long pause) There is a remote possibility you are getting this for Christmas.

The rest of the conversation was spent with me rattling off the best places and prices for her to get it at. I have the best momma in the world. I even said it was absolutely all I wanted, and since graduation, Christmas and my birthday were all so close together, it coukd just be one huge gift for all three. I know she won't do it like that and she will get me something for each, but she definitely doesn't have to. My mom kicks so much ass, it's not even funny.

Hodge Podge

Lots of stuff going on. Two weeks are going great, except I had my 4th observation today by my supervisor. She's lame and pisses me off, but whatever, I'm done in December. Next week Mrs. Dabbert, the principal, is observing me. I'm excited, she's awesome. I wish all principals were like her, life would be grand.

I'm going home this weekend. Yesterday was my mom's birthday and she is by no means old, but she feels old. Hopefully we can have fun this weekend and she won't feel so old then. I got her season 2 of Quantum Leap on DVD. That used to be our show we'd watch once a week. I miss having traditions like that. I miss Minnesota. I hate Nebraska.

We probably won't get a bowl game this year. Big surprise. Lost to Kansas for the first time in 30+ years. Do you know how disheartening it is to watch a shitty team like Kansas tear down their goal posts? Everyone is going to say blah blah they're not shitty now. This is what I have to say in response: "Fuck you, they always have been shitty and even at our worst (last season) we beat them so shut up shut up shut up." Not the most mature, but it gets my point across. I hate Kansas.

I love FRIENDS though and am actually contemplating blowing a huge amount of money on the boxed set. I shouldn't, but I feel like I deserve a present, so I might. I think when I do buy it, I will watch it from start to finish. I wonder how long it will take me. I can't wait.

Teetz and I hung out last night and watched SVU. Next week's episode advertised a show centering on Olivia again. I wonder why Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay never appear in episodes together anymore. I hypothesized they got into a huge blow-out and can't be in scenes together anymore. Teetz logically pointed out they might just be alternating vacation time, but here are two reasons why he is probably wrong: 1) Who gets a vacation every other week from work and 2) neither had this many vacations LAST season. If anyone knows the real answer, feelo free to share. Also, Teetz got me a way cool shot glass when he was in North Carolina and went to one of the bazillion ACC stores. He even went to Durham, but thankfully did not actually see Cameron Indoor Stadium (you know, the building where the Blue Devils play, the same building my first-born son or daughter will be named after...). He said he drove down Cameron Blvd, but it just wouldn't have felt right to see Cameron Indoor without me. He is so thoughtful when he wants to be.

Sometimes I think some of the people in my life need a wake-up call. I am the way that I am and have been for the majority of my almost-23 years. That is not something that will change over night and regardless of how some people think I "should" be, that is not always how I actually "am". I am aware that not all aspects of my personality are great, while I can be charming and social when I want, I can just as easily be cold and heartless and just plain mean. I am sorry that after all this time some people are now expecting me to suddenly change these things over night because that is impossible, nothing changes over night. I have my reasons for why I act the way I do in certain situations and right now it can't be helped.

I think I enjoy Jack and Coke a little too much. I did some random quiz at BlogThings, as you saw before, and my results came up saying I was an angry drunk. I should try taking it again and answering in terms of EVERYTHING I drink on a given night, not just how I feel when I drink Jack and Coke. Isn't it strange how you feel differently when you drink one thing compared to another? I'm sure mostly it is psychological, but whiskey makes me mean, yet I love it anyway.

The portfolio is going well. I am getting near halfway. I know that doesn't sound very far, but considering all the work that has gone into it, that's damn good. I am anxious to be done with school, and again I have been seriously considering moving to Alaska for a few years to teach up there. I think it would be such a great opportunity and a whole new experience that I would really benefit from. Unfortunately, I wouldn't see my family or friends ever, but it wouldn't be for the rest of my life, and it would make the times we WOULD get to see each other that much better. Who knows.

Damnit

I am pissed. I have to stay in this place. I know I said I was moving and not changing my mind, but I don't have much choice. It's $600 per person to break the lease and as much as I hate this place, I can't do it right now. I just have to concentrate on the fact that if I can make it until December, if I get a teaching job I will have no choice but to move out. As long as the noise is regulated and my roommates don't leave their fucking dishes laying around for a week and a half at a time, I won't kill anyone.

Watched SVU with Teetz, since we didn't get to last night or on Tuesday. Stabler got shot!!! I was worried, but I didn't think they'd be lame enough to kill him off that way and I was right. It was a pretty fucked up episode, but good, and it was a reminder as to why I watch it in the first place.

I am getting pretty far along on my portfolio. I knew it would be easier once I got over that bump of actually starting it. I should also get plenty done on Saturday as well, so aside fro, the fact I am staying in a crappy living situation with inconsiderate people, my life is peachy-keen, jelly bean.

AND "FRIENDS: THE ONE WITH ALL TEN SEASONS" COMES OUT ON DVD IN 11 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekend Update

It's Labor Day weekend and I am hanging out in Cather with Drake because he is on duty tonight. I work tomorrow, which is a bummer because I couldn't go out with April tonight. She and I haven't hung out in ages, it was tougher last semester when she got screwed over by the chapter abd I still had chapter obligations. She wasn't around a lot and now we're going to try to be better about hanging out because we have so much fun when we do.

I an psyched to start my second week at Belmont, I think once I get into the swing of things I won't be so tired every day, which is nice but right now I am just getting used to not being lazy all day like during the summer - at least then I was only working four days a week. Now I am working every single day. Ah well, I'll have money and you won't. :)

JohnRoss and I went to Amanda's show last night, it was really good. It made me laugh and cry, so it was a good one because when you have that spectrum of emotions, they must be doing somethin right. The play was called 'Proposals' and Amanda had one of the lead roles. She played this girl who was engaged to this guy, but didn't feel she really was supposed to marry him. She still had feelings for the guy she had a fling with the previous summer. Plus, this 'gangster' from Miami came to visit her and basically comedy and chaos ensued. It was a ot of fun and it really made me miss being in theatre. I didn't do a whole lot in high school on stage but did a lot in costumes, make-up and ticket office. I was in our Madigral Dinner by freshman and junior year but that was it, I did a lot more in elementary school and middle school. Plus, I had so many activities in high school I wouldn't have had time to take on theatre roles as well. But it was fun and maybe I could do what Amanda did and find a local group to audition with. I don't have a lot of time, but we'll see what happens.

Not much else going on, just some planning of certain events that will be happening in the future that pertain to previous posts, and the graduation party preperation as well. I am going home the last weekend in September and I think Drake will get to go this time so he will get to meet the family. Plus, it is Holden's birthday so I will get to see him and Nicholas to. I miss those kiddos a lot.

First Day at Belmont!

I am super excited so I am posting now. Drake just left not too long ago and I couldn't go back to sleep because I am just that excited about starting student teaching. It's going to be a lot of hard work but it is going to be so much fun. Yesterday we had our orientation and met with our site supervisor, there's only four of us at Belmont and they are all women I have had at least two or three classes with before. That's what I love about the education program here - there are enough blocks that you're not with the same people every single semester and you meet new people, but it's small enough so at least there are always familiar faces. Tom Wandzilak, the director of student teaching, suggested if you are working a job, you do so for no more than twenty hours a week. This is going to be a problem because I have 21 hours at Office Depot (Fri-Sun) and 16 at the testing center (Mon-Thurs). However, I got my refund check back from the university already for housing costs, so that will definitely help a lot. I am thinking about taking Saturdays off from Office Depot because I really do hate that job. That way the days are broken up a little and I only have to be in that place on Fridays and Sundays instead of the whole weekend. Plus I can take in a few football games as well. I know my bosses are not going to be happy, but it's just too bad - Office Depot will certainly not be MY career, I didn't spend a bajillion dollars at this stupid university just to be a cashier the rest of my life. I know I could move up rather quickly in the next few years, but who really wants to make Office Depot into a career? Not this girl. Anyway, now I must go get ready, I have to be there at nine and I still have to stop on campus and at the bank and stuff. I am super excited, this is going to be awesome!

It's Gettin' To Be That Time...

I apologize for any typos or spelling errors you might find in this. Drake's pop-up blocker will not allow the spell-checker even after I told it to and rather than argue with it, I am going to say fuck it and let the errors remain. It's not like it really matters anyway, its a blog and blogs are lame.

While most of you have started wasting away in class, I won't brag too much that I have yet to begin. Don't hate me or call me and leave nasty voicemails about how lucky I am and whatever, but because I am student teaching, I don't start until Wednesday - and that's just orientation. Thursday and Friday I will be at Belmont getting stuff ready with Mrs. Rangel (one of the most awesome teachers I have been lucky enough to wrk with) and then Monday LPS starts. I an psyched, I am ready to be done with UNL and get started with the rest of my life. I know it is going to be busy and I am going to be working on top of student teaching, but I think I will be okay - and I know Pat will give me time off at the testing center if I need it. I decided to work there Monday-Thursday because at least then I can still do homework most of the time. I will then be at Office Depot Friday-Sunday. That's going to suck, but I need the money. I am also sad because I will not be a season-ticket holder in my last year at UNL. I know I will get to a couple games at least, but it's just not quite the same. Speaking of football, Roxy's wedding was postponed, so Drake will not have to potentially miss the Oklahoma game. That's a plus because I really want him in Chicago with me. He refuses to go shopping on The Mile with me. His exact words were, "I'm not going with you to The Mile because I'd see everything you were buying in the store, then I'd see it again at the hotel, and then again when we got home." I understand, but hello! LOUIS VUITTON!!!! And Aldo's, oh how I love Aldo's. And H&M is hott too. I wish she lived in LA though, because then I could go to Kitsons. I love Kitsons. I love shopping. Speaking of shopping....I started cleaning out my closet to make room for all the new fun teacher clothes that Grandma and I bought. I showed Drake and I don't think he quite understood the magnitude of my "spoild-ness" until he saw the bags and bags of clothes. To be fair though, I bought a lot of them myself, but Grandma also bought quite a bit as well. I can't help it though, I honestly do need the clothes - it's not going to be like my practicums where we only went on Mondays and Wednesdays, I will be at Belmont every single day. Plus, everything we bought was strictly school only, everything was school-appropriate and there's no spaghetti straps or low v-cut shirts. I have a lot of new fun skirts and I am realy excited for school to get going.

I don't really listen to theradio much anymore, mostly because I have a lot of cds I am content with, so forgive me for this song being a little behind the times, but I heard it the other day and fell in love with it.

I know I highlighted a lot but especially the chorus I just thought was so amazing. This song is just, wow, I'm not exactly sure how to describe it. I loved the part especially about the hourglass, it just seemed to hit right on. And yeah, I know it's older now by a couple months or whatever, but since when have I ever liked something everyone else likes right away, especially when it comes to songs? I have to warm up to them, and it takes me a while, because music is so important to me and I have to feel like the song really matters or has relevence.

Britt and I watched Laguna Beach as usual, what I wouldn't give to be on that show! I'd have issues for Kristin for sure, but hey, she's a bitch and you know how bitches have to be dealth with - a quick punch in the face, that's how. It's not quite as god as last season, I think Britt and I both liked that class a lot more, but it's cool that LC is going to be on more. I wish the new girl Casey would close her mouth though, literally. Her teeth are so huge I don't think it is actually possible for her to close it, but she should at least try. It would help out her appearance a lot I think. There's a lot more drama and a love triangle again, but this one is dumb because bth of the girls are annoying and the guy is a whore anyway. At least with the triangle between LC-Kristin-Stepehen, we wanted LC to win. I honestly do not care who wins in the Alex-Jason-Jessica fight. It's just dumb and they should all break up and go on their merry ways APART.

Tomorrow is my last day of freedom so I have some stuff to finish up. I am taking all my clothes to Goodwill. It's hard for me to part with clothes, even if I haven't worn them in a while, but at least if I do this, someone else will get some use out of them. It's just hard to decided what to keep and what to get rid of because there's always the "I might wear this again if..." but I have to be strong. I also need to get my books and all that shit, but I don't think I will have more than two. We have seminar once a week because we're still going to have papers and lesson plans, but it won't be nearly as time-consuming as what I had in previous blocks. I really am looking forward to this, some people were born to be educators and I know I am one of those people. You honestly can not last in the program if you're not good at it, unlike with some other majors. Practicum supervisors and cooperating teachers will let you know right away if you're ready to move on to the next block or not, that's what all our constant evaluations are for. But I am confident, plus Shona will be across the hal with Mrs. Schroeder so I know we will be able to help each other out if we need to.

Wendell...and stuff

I'm not sure exactly how many people know this but I have an very adorable red eared slider turtle named Wendell. I absolutely love him and think he is one of the most adorable things on this planet. Originally my friend Shona and I were working on a project at her apartment last semester and she showed me her new turtle she got, named Wendell. I thought he was so cute that I wanted one of my own. Once I got settled into my new apartment after the semester was over, I went in search of a red eared slider turtle to call my own. Unfortunately I found out it is illegal to sell baby red eared sliders in Lancaster Country because the babies can carry salmonella. Yuck. If the shell is smaller than four inches, they can't be sold. Well, Wendell is waaaaay smaller than four inches, his shell is now a little bigger than a 50 cent piece. Anyway, so I was kind of sad about all this, but decided I would go to Hastings where Shona got hers. Then she told me she would sell Wendell to for cheap because her cat Cleo, tried to eat him one day. Thus, no trip to Hastings and I saved a lot of money. Originally I wanted to name my own turtle Merle, after Teetz's dad, but I couldn't bear to change Wendell's name even though Shona okayed it. So my turtles full name is Wendell Merle, and that way he gets the best of both worlds. He's a lot more active than he used to be and that makes me happy. For a while he just kind of sat around and didn't do much but now his aquarium is looking pretty snazzy if I do say so myself, which I do say, so it's true. He likes to burrow into the rocks and try to bury himself under them, but unfortunately there aren't enough for him to do so. He is fun to watch, I am very happy I got him. I just wish he grew a little faster, though Drake says he can tell he's gotten bigger. I guess I just don't see it because I see Wendell every day, whereas Drake may be here every day but he pays little attention to my baby.

On my way home from work tonight I was driving behind a Toyota Tundra. Damn, it took up a lot of room, and was in general not very attractive. It was also slow, which annoyed me.

Last weekend to go out and have real fun, so we're going to Sandy's around 9:30 or so for those of you old enough to partake in the festivities. Teetz said he'd go drink for drink with me, which will be entertaining so the camera is definitely coming along for this one!

It's hard to believe I am starting my final semester as an undergraduate at UNL. I am anxious to get out, I am sick of Nebraska and really want something new, though I know I will be here until next May. I think what it really comes down to is the bullshit Financial Aid pulls all the time, I am tired of the red tape and the hoops I have to jump through. I love all my friends dearly though and am very lucky to have found them true ones who matter, and to have rid myself of the two-faced ones. I really feel I am at the point in my life where all the toxic people are gone and I don't have to associate with them anymore. It makes things much more simple. I am a bit sad though, I was driving down Greek Row (that's 16th street for those of you not in the know) and saw everyone moving in and gearing up for another year, it's weird not moving back into the dorms, though I am grateful for not having to wear flip-flops in the shower anymore. However, because Drake is an RA - in Cather, of all dorms, ha ha - I will be there quite often. This should make for some interesting times, though Drake would prefer those times be kept to a minimum. I certainly do not miss the sorority life at all, I am glad that chapter in my life has closed. I miss the amazing women I call friends who I met through the chapter, but I am glad to be done with Meeting and Recruitment and the like. It was so stressful and silly at times, but it was a necessary evil to maintain the chapter. This is getting depressing, I am not going to be sad really when I am done, I just know how different things are now. One thing that will bum me out about this year is that most of my friends are graduating in May, while I am going in December. I think Kayleen and I are the only two graduating in the middle of the year, but Drake, Teetz and Britt are all May kiddos. At least Kayleen and I can make faces at each other just to stay awake through the ceremony. I wasn't going to go to it even, but Mom, and pretty much my entire family would kill me if I didn't. I'm psyched to start planning the party, it will be awesome.

Speaking of parties, the other night Britt and I watched Laguna Beach, and the season premier of My Super Sweet Sixteen was on. I wanted to absolutely murder this stupid girl who was on. She was horrible to her mother and was always saying all this nasty stuff and telling her to shut up and sit down and leave her alone and stop being annoying. Hello, dumbass, your mother is dropping $180,000 on a fucking birthday party, quite your bitching and be a little more grateful. It was ridiculous. I honestly think if I ever saw that girl on the street I would not be able to resist punching her. It would be way too sweet.

Grad School Update

Teetz, Britt and I hung out tonight to watch the series premier of "Tommy Lee Goes To College", a little out of curiosity and a lot out of wanting to see how our fair university would be portrayed. Luckily, they didn't make everyone in Nebraska look like country bumpkins, thank goodness. Although I'm not sure why it would have bothered me, I am not even from this God-forsaken state. Sorry, I don't know where the sudden hostility came from. Could it be that I am afraid I will never leave, as was the somewhat-theme of my previous grad school post? Who knows. But yes, the show was fun and we are going to be watching it at Teetz's every Tuesday now. We recognized tons of people we knew, so for a campus of 22,000 students, that's pretty neat I suppose.

But back to grad school. I was talking about the different places I was planning on applying, and it was totally by coincidence that Teetz is applying to two of the same schools! How awesome would that be! He's applying to Washington, Colorado State, Wisconsin, and NC State. I am also planning on applying to the 1st and the 4th. Pretty sweet. He looked afraid. I highly doubt we will end up going to the same grad school because at this point Illinois is my best choice, as it is one of the top schools in two of the areas I am most interested in. However, who knows, I may not even go to grad school. But if I don't go to grad school I don't get the doctorate and if I don't get the doctorate I don't get the Escalade. I WILL have my Escalade. Maybe I will let Teetz drive it if he goes to the same school as I do. I think the opportunity to drive a hott Escalade is incentive enough, and Teetz can be pretty material sometimes. Unfortunately we just don't always like the same material things. Ah well. It's bad enough Britt is going to UNMC, I don't think I can survive more school without at least having one of them around to distract. That's my job.

Quick Update

I am in the basement of Selleck typing this right now so it is going to be quick and to the point. We don't have Internet in our apartment until Tuesday so I am forced to drive here just to quench my insatiable need for email and Facebook. The apartment is awesome, Brett and Brian are good roommates, no drama as of yet and I doubt there will be because they are two of the most laid-back guys I have ever known. Also, I changed the settings on my blog so anyone can post a comment, even if you are not a member of Blogspot. I did this originally but I guess somehow it changed because Brett said he tried to leave a comment once but couldn't. Stupid Blogspot. But all is well now and anyone can comment on anything.

Here is the update I know you all have been waiting for: The E-Mail Situation. Finally on Monday I decided what I wanted to say. It was short and simple because I really took time to figure out how I feel about the whole situation and basically I said if she wanted to talk, that was fine with me and we could, though I think she pretty much summed up her feelings on the whole thing at my birthday and then in the following email. I also said she had my number and could call if she wanted because I would be in Lincoln. The end. This was Monday and she has not responded since then, either my email or phone, so I am assuming that was not the response she wanted. I think she was expecting a whole-hearted welcome back kind of thing, which I am not willing to give because I don't think it is necessary. I guess this will be as much closure as can be had in the situation, and I am okay with that because I found out who my real friends are and that's really all anyone can ask for.

I also checked out my grades, read 'em and weep: Social Studies methods - A+; Science Methods - A; Music Methods - A; Biology - A. Not bad if I do say so myself and it's my first semester having a 4.0. Sweet. I am totally going shopping in celebration of me. Maybe Grandpa will give me my Escalade now instead of later. We'll see ;)

Okay, this is bordering on not being so quick of an update now, so I will save the random stuff for later but I will be back to normal after Tuesday when I can check my email any time I want without having to drive to campus. Also, because I am in fucking Selleck on their stupid computers that have ALL pop-ups blocked, I couldn not run spellcheck so I am sure someone will find some error somewhere. Woohoo. Peace out motherfuckers.

One Week Left...

...Well, only one 'official' week anyway. Then Dead Week, which is never really dead, and then Finals Week. Finals Week for most anyway. Us education majors on the other hand, we will be done before the rest of you for the most part. It's nice having a major where you put together portfolios instead of cram for final exams. My only final is on Thursday in my Bios 295 class - and I hear it involves making ice cream, so nothing too strenuous. Somehow I think I will manage to survive.

Teetz and I went shopping yesterday, it was far too nice to stay inside so we went to Southpoint. My sanctuary inside Barnes and Noble was ruined however, by a force too disturbing to name, for fear it might rear it's ugly head and attempt to hurt my feelings. Or something. But I finally bought one of my favorite books, The Picture of Dorian Gray. Oscar Wilde is highly underrated by far too many people, or this text is at least, and that annoys me. Anyway. I have come to the conclusion though, that even though Southpoint is an 'outdoor mall' I still like Gateway just as well, if not better. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the Chinese place has the best fried rice ever. I like fried rice. I was never a fan of white rice really, I guess I am racist. Ah well.

I had another voice lesson today. Emily decided I need to really get out of my confort zone and stop singing along with guys only, because I have the ability, I just need to use it more often to get comfortable with it. It sounds all wrong in my head to me and I don't like to hit the high notes, but she said while we were singing she would stop me if I was off, and she didn't stop me. So now I am supposed to sing along with more female singers, which makes me a little nervous. Not like Mariah Carey, who sings so ridiculously high sometimes that only dogs should be able to hear it, but more Julie Roberts (Teetz will LOVE that one since he is such a country fan) LeAnn Womack (i.e. 'I Hope You Dance', lots of high notes), and so on. I think Christina Aguilera is out of the question for now too, that girl can SING. I can't. Yet.

The Final Four is set, and UNL is a dirty old French whore

...Unfortunately. My brackets for this March Madness are the worst I have ever had. My championship game was set to be Wake vs. Duke, and of course that is not going to happen. I can't stand any of the teams left, so I am in a pickle...do I cheer for the ACC team, who is Duke's biggest rival? Or do I cheer for Illinois, a team severely overrated? I mean, come on, of course they did well, the Big 10 was weak this year. I could cheer for Louisville, the team coached by Rick Pitino, who knocked my Gophers out in the Final Four back in '97 when he coached at Kentucky, or I could cheer for Michigan State, the team who knocked my Blue Devils out this year. Illinois may be the lesser of four evils, but can you really forgive such a ridiculously overhyped team? I think not. I'm rooting for Louisville.

I got accepted to student teach next fall. Only one more semester and I can stop giving money to this damn place. I really loath UNL, and sometimes wish I had just applied to Duke in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends and all, and Lincoln itself, well, we all know Lincoln is way better than Omaha, because look at the type of people who actually come from Omaha. They're just not good people. I just don't like giving money to the school, that's all, because as far as my education goes, most of what I have learned in my methods classes are common sense. People do not need to go to college to be good teachers, either you have IT or you don't, and I have IT. But alas, every school system in the country requires that pesky little piece of paper, so I don't have much choice. Not only that, but some of the school policies are really lame, specifically the ones pertaining to alcohol, candles, and cohabitation. I don't know why they bother having policies against things they really have no control over, it is ridiculous. I can not wait to get out of here.
